Washing Clothes Without Power

In a survival situation, assuming that power will not be readily available is a good idea. Simple things that we are used to doing will no longer be easy and convenient to do.

Things like washing clothes.

It may not be the most exciting subject, but, running around in the same unwashed clothes for weeks at a time is not the most appealing thought (if you don’t believe me, just ask your wife. You want a happy marriage after the SHTF? Find a way to wash clothes.)

It’s a pretty straightforward process using a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, a plunger. and some scrub brushes and a washboard for stains and tougher cleaning. (nod to here for the lead on these videos)

You’ll also want to find detergent, and baking soda is recommended to have handy. The videos also suggest that using warm water works better for cleaning purposes, so being handy with fire is useful, as well.
