Try Not To Throw Up When You Hear This Ridiculous Plan To Reduce Violence

Anti-gun people often have a tendency to respond with a knee jerk reaction, and, because of this, focus on ridiculous minor details that sound good, but really do nothing to “fix” the “problem.”

Take gun violence. The White House claims that banning AR-15 ammunition will save the lives of police officers. This sounds good on the surface, and, when you haven’t thought about it, seems to make good sense, right?

The problem with this thinking is that, using FBI statistics, all rifles (not just AR-15s) account for all of 2.3% of the murders committed in 2013, the most recent statistics available.

So, when the White House says that banning AR-15 ammunition is “common sense step,” you have to wonder what they are comparing it to. Never mind this point by Kit Daniels:

[A]ccording to the FBI statistics, for the past 20 years violent crime has been trending downwards even though the U.S. population has increased by over 56 million.

Why they want to focus on banning this particular ammunition so badly. Of course, it’s the same reason they want to control access to guns period: no guns in the hands of honest, law abiding citizens means free reign to run over those same citizens. And why do they think it’s okay for them to do that? Because they believe some citizens (meaning them) are more equal than others.
