One State Is Fudging Coronavirus Numbers in a Truly Disturbing Way

Health officials are still scrambling for a response to the Wuhan virus.

Governments have been forced to alter their course as more information comes in.

But one state is fudging its coronavirus numbers in a truly disturbing way.

There are now roughly 1.74 million confirmed cases of the coronavirus that have resulted in 102,000 deaths.

The virus led to an unprecedented shutdown of the U.S. economy, which has led to 40 million people unemployed and trillions of dollars lost from the economy.

The current data trend shows that it’s time to begin reopening the economy.

Even Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, both of which have been pro-lockdown, say it’s now time to begin opening the country.

However, other data suggest the severe lockdown might’ve been unnecessary, or even harmful.

Countries like Japan and Sweden avoided lockdowns, and their coronavirus numbers are better than most other nations.

New information also shows that the virus isn’t nearly as lethal as originally thought.

The overwhelming majority of people who have died as a result of the virus were elderly and/or had a serious underlying health issue.

Also, antibody tests have shown that far more people than anticipated had been exposed to the virus, but were asymptomatic.

That drops the lethality rate by an order of magnitude, and puts the virus in the category of the seasonal flu.

Even worse, some local governments have been lying about their coronavirus numbers.

The governor of Colorado even revised down the number of coronavirus deaths in his state by 24% after a man with alcohol poisoning was classified as a COVID-19 death.

And in Washington state, the Department of Health acknowledged that they classified multiple gunshot victims as coronavirus deaths.

The Freedom Foundation argues that Washington has inflated its coronavirus numbers by 13%.

Of the state’s 828 deaths, 681 (82%) were believed to be directly caused by the coronavirus, 41 (5%) were catalogued as deaths related to coronavirus complications, and 106 (13%) were patients who’d tested positive for the virus at some point, but their death certificates had no mention of COVID-19 as a contributing factor.

That means that someone who tested positive for the virus but died of a gunshot wound could be listed as a COVID-19 death.

Democrat Governor Jay Inslee denies the allegations made by the Freedom Foundation, but the numbers certainly raise questions, especially when other jurisdictions have had similar issues.

Some doctors and local health officials have been baffled by the pressure to classify deaths as COVID-19 deaths whenever possible.

There certainly appears to be a concerted effort to make the virus as scary as possible and use that fear as a cudgel against ideological opponents.

That’s what The New York Times tried to do when it falsely blamed Fox News host Sean Hannity for a man contracting the coronavirus and dying.

The lockdown reign of terror needs to end because the numbers just don’t support it.
