The protests over the murder of George Floyd have led to chaos.
Cities around the country are literally on fire.
And one major city has turned into a war zone due to dangerous leadership.
The rioting and looting that ensued after the death of George Floyd had nothing to do with his death.
Criminals and terror groups like Antifa used Floyd’s murder as a justification to carry out their own selfish goals.
That became abundantly clear in the city of Chicago.
A city that has been controlled by Democrats for 80 years has become one of the most violent cities in America.
During the Memorial Day weekend, 49 Chicagoans were shot and ten were killed.
Horrific statistics like that have become commonplace in the city.
Chicago also has some of the harshest gun control laws in the country.
Gun grabbers brush this off by blaming Indiana’s gun laws for the ubiquity of guns in the hands of criminals.
They also argue that gun rights are a form of white supremacy.
It was the KKK and the Dixiecrats that fought for gun laws in order to disarm black people.
The rioting and looting in response to George Floyd ignited a tinderbox in the city of Chicago.
The carnage of Memorial Day weekend was tragically surpassed when Chicago saw its deadliest day in 60 years with 18 Chicagoans murdered in the course of 24 hours.
These are literal war zone numbers.
To point this out is conveniently dismissed as a “right-wing talking point,” but it only makes sense to talk about the scores of people being killed frequently.
Lori Lightfoot, the radical mayor of the city, got in a cursing match with city alderman over the violence that increased in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
Alderman Raymond Lopez said to Lightfoot in a conference call:
“Once they’re done looting and rioting and whatever’s going to happen tonight, God help us, what happens when they start going after residents? Going into the neighborhoods? Once they start trying to break down people’s doors, if they think they’ve got something…I’ve got gangbangers with AK-47s walking around right now, just waiting to settle some scores. What are we going to do, and what do we tell residents, other than good faith people stand up? It’s not going to be enough.”
Lopez’s comment about gangbangers looking to “settle some scores” highlight how Floyd’s death is being used as a pretext for criminals.
Lightfoot initially ignored Lopez’s concerns, but he persisted.
That’s when Lightfoot responded, “I think you’re 100% full of sh*t, is what I think.”
Chicago is notorious for its political corruption and fecklessness, and Lightfoot’s short stint as mayor hasn’t changed the perception.
The Chicago Police Department diligently investigated claims of a racial hate crime made by Hollywood actor Jussie Smollett, but a corrupt district attorney let him go with a slap on the wrist even after he was exposed as a fraud.
Chicago is experiencing a crisis of leadership, and it’s having deadly consequences.
