The Wuhan virus has made 2020 a year to forever forget.
Nearly every aspect of life has been negatively impacted by the virus.
And a new study exposes one dark trend about the coronavirus lockdowns.
“Fifteen days to slow the spread” quickly morphed into indefinite, soul-crushing lockdowns.
The economy has been ground to a halt in many areas and countless businesses have been permanently destroyed.
And that doesn’t even factor in the deterioration on mental health – which has been immeasurable.
According to a study in the United Kingdom, suicidal thoughts have gone up alarmingly.
Since April, the percentage of Britons experiencing suicidal ideation jumped from 8% to 13%, and 8% is already a high number.
A 2010 study put the number at around 5.5%, so the amount of people feeling suicidal has more than doubled because of COVID-19 lockdowns.
From The Washington Examiner:
“None of these numbers can cleanly compare, but it sure seems like the number of British people having suicidal thoughts has at least doubled compared to normal times. If we attribute about half of the 13% to current circumstances, that’s 6.5% of Britain’s population — or about 4.3 million Britons. Compare that to 1.95 million Britons who have contracted the coronavirus. In short, the COVID-19 pandemic seems to have given more people depression to the point of suicidal thoughts than it has given people the coronavirus.”
The numbers in the United States likely mirror the numbers in the U.K.
Deaths of despair are assuredly on the rise and the American people have been given no timetable as to when they can resume their lives.
Patience is running out.
Pro-lockdown politicians and health officials have torched their credibility.
They’ve flip-flopped on one issue after another, disregarded “the science” that they champion so much for, and ignored their own lockdown orders.
Joe Biden said that he plans to institute a 100-day mask mandate, but that won’t do anything.
America is already one of the most mask-compliant countries in the world – nearly 90% of Americans almost always or sometimes wear a mask.
Getting the number to 100% isn’t going to stop the spread of the virus.
And a recent study out of Denmark raises serious doubts about the efficacy of masks.
Many health experts—including officials at the World Health Organization—have come out against lockdowns, yet so many countries remain locked down.
The experts have moved the goal posts again, and it seems they won’t let society reopen until 75% to 80% of the U.S. population gets the COVID vaccine.
That should not be a condition for reopening.
The economy must reopen now and only the vulnerable populations should be asked to quarantine.
The lockdowns are destroying people physically and mentally.
