Crime Is on the Rise Because One Terrible Policy

Crime

Far-left politicians are making a bold move in the arena of criminal justice.

Many progressive cities are flirting with their ideas.

Now crime is on the rise because of one terrible policy.

Deep blue cities like San Francisco, Chicago, and Philadelphia have seen leftists run for district attorney and win.

The plan to dismantle the principles of law and order from within has been supported by activists like George Soros.

A district attorney’s job is primarily to protect the citizens, not enact progressive policies that put communities in danger.

But that’s exactly what’s happened.

The newly minted DA of San Francisco is already at war with the police union.

And in New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio has been an enemy of his police department for years.

The far-left mayor who said he would do away with property rights if he could, enacted a bail reform policy that lets arrestees go without posting bail so long as they’re not deemed a flight risk before trial.

Many warned the policy would lead to a spike in crime, and that’s precisely what is happening.

The problem has gotten so bad, de Blasio himself admitted bail reform is responsible.

“It sort of stands out like a sore thumb that this is the single biggest new thing in the equation and we saw an extraordinary jump.”

De Blasio acknowledged that other factors affecting crime statistics have remained relatively constant.

He continued, “Of course there’s always a possibility this is plain statistical variation, that happens sometimes…But I think it’s pretty clear that there’s only one new major piece in the equation.”

The bail reform policy has seen people who have committed robbery, assault, and grand larceny back on the streets only to commit more crimes.

The consequences of this policy should come as no surprise.

Whenever Democrats swerve too far left on law and order, there’s an invariable rise in crime rates.

Such bad policies are what allowed Republicans like Rudy Giuliani and Richard Riordan to become mayors of New York and Los Angeles respectively.

Republican mayors in those cities today would seem like an impossibility, but soft-on-crime policies even push liberals to their breaking point and they’re forced to face reality.

De Blasio is already looking to tweak the bail reform policy.

He said, “Judges…need to be given the discretion to understand if someone poses a greater threat, but with real strong checks and balances.”

But even that will be attacked by the left.

Radical leftists hate prisons and have deep compassion for criminals, but no answer and no compassion for their victims.

In their eyes, anything short of total revolution is a half-measure.

This is a terrible way to run a city, and de Blasio is figuring that out.

When a far-left politician like de Blasio can’t even defend this bad policy, you know the ramifications must be bad.

Leftists live to disregard reality, but some truths are too glaring to ignore.
