It’s more clear than ever that China is America’s top geopolitical threat.
The country has a long vision of being the world’s dominant superpower.
And China made one move that should terrify all Americans.
Free speech is the cornerstone of any healthy society.
Without it, government tyranny is inevitable.
China has been a communist country for 70 years, so speech rights have been absolutely squelched.
The latest example of that occurred when a police chief in China was detained after he voiced concerns of the country’s treatment of the Uyghurs, a small group of Muslims within the country.
The human rights abuses put upon the Uyghurs is staggering, and when police chief Himit Qari spoke up about it, he himself was detained.
A woman who once taught detainees at these Soviet-style re-education camps gave a harrowing account of what happens inside:
“There were almost 20 people in a room of 16 square meters…There were cameras in their rooms, too, and also in the corridor. Each room had a plastic bucket for a toilet. Every prisoner was given two minutes a day to use the toilet, and the bucket was emptied only once a day. If it filled up, you had to wait until the next day. The prisoners wore uniforms and their heads were shaved. Their hands and feet were shackled all day, except when they had to write. Even in sleep they were shackled, and they were required to sleep on their right side — anyone who turned over was punished.”
She also said prisoners were chemically sterilized, women were raped, and any reaction to the abuses would lead to punishment.
The reason why this is so troubling for America is that prominent Americans are willfully ignoring the human rights abuses and bending knee to China’s communist government.
This was made clear in the NBA, where its prominent “woke” personalities beclowned themselves on the issue of China.
Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey nearly lost his job amid Chinese pressure for tweeting support of Hong Kong protesters.
Hong Kongers are fighting to maintain their freedom against the communist party of the mainland.
Rockets star player James Harden quickly toed the line in support of China, and LeBron James even directly criticized Morey and said he wasn’t “educated” on the matter.
The same James who called Donald Trump a “bum” and said he wouldn’t visit the White House was quick to go to bat for China’s communist party.
Joseph Tsai, owner of the Brooklyn Nets, also came out in support of China and ripped Morey.
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich have both ripped Trump repeatedly and advocated for leftist policies, but they were both conspicuously silent on the China issue.
Kerr eventually chimed in and drew a false equivalency, deflecting to America’s “human rights abuses” and gun violence.
If these people are willing to bend the knee to China when they have such little control over the U.S., what will they do and say when China has real influence?
Americans need to keep a close eye on the dealings in China because their authoritarian tactics will most certainly be adopted by leftists in the west.
After all, western socialists are the ones who influenced Chairman Mao in the first place.
The influence is beginning to come full circle.
