If This Senator’s Wife Is Afraid To Go To Sleep, Are You Any Safer?

We live in a world that seems more and more violent, and certainly the level of hostility between people of different political views seems to have skyrocketed to the point that it can be difficult to have a calm and civil conversation with someone else about any political subject.

In fact, the situation has gotten so bad that people who aren’t directly involved in the political conflict have become concerned about the possibility of violence to them simply because of who they know, not even because they have personally taken any stance on a particular issue. Robert Kraychik gives us one example of this unfortunate turn of events:

Kelley Paul, the wife of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), described her increasing concerns for the safety of herself and her family amidst increasing calls from Democrats and the broader left to amplify politically motivated hostility towards Republicans. She offered her remarks in a Friday interview with Breitbart News Deputy Political Director Amanda House.

“We’ve updated all of our security systems at home. I sleep with a loaded gun by my bed. I’m home alone a lot, obviously when Rand is [in Washington, DC], and so I’ve got deadbolts all around my house so that if someone’s in my house when I go to bed I’m deadbolted in three different levels,” Paul told House.

“It’s bizarre. I’ve never been like this in my whole life. … We used to never even lock our doors, and now that has all changed. Even going out to dinner in D.C., last night, you worry. You hope that people aren’t going to come up and just start screaming at you.”

Consider the unfortunate situation that Mrs. Paul finds herself in. While her husband is a Republican Senator (Kentucky), he often works with people across the aisle to bring legislation to increase freedoms for everyday Americans. In other words, he isn’t a stereotypical politician who will only work within his party. If members of his family find themselves threatened when they have protection from government law enforcement officers, then how are you and I going to feel safe?

Our recommendation is that you take measures to train yourself and to properly arm yourself for self-protection because, unfortunately, it looks like the situation in this company could be getting worse.
